The Minister of State for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in the United Kingdom, Mark Spencer, said that the Group of Seven (G-7) is preparing a plan to combat the theft of Ukrainian grain from Russia.
The scheme will include chemical identification of the grain's origin, the minister explained.
We remind you that last month Great Britain announced sanctions against Russian individuals and organizations suspected of stealing Ukrainian grain.
For a year now, Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly accused Russian forces of stealing grain from the occupied territories. According to Reuters, Russian ships have been seen several times loading agricultural products in the occupied port city of Berdyansk in the Zaporozhye region.
On the other hand, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko said Russia had planted winter crops for this year's harvest on 1.3 million hectares in the four regions of Ukraine that Moscow claims it annexed a year ago.
She emphasized that Russia has also provided 3 billion rubles ($37.1 million) in government support to farmers in Ukraine's Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, which the Kremlin currently treats as annexed.
Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka said that efforts in this direction will be justified only if the ships can leave. "Our interest is to ensure freedom of navigation to and from all Ukrainian seaports," he said.
And whether the ships will continue to sail is becoming less likely. "The explosion of the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline carried out by the Kiev regime means that the continuation of the Black Sea initiative has already been delayed for a long time," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said immediately afterwards.
In other words, against the backdrop of mutual attacks, it is a good idea to develop a provenance mechanism, as long as it works for everyone, correctly and impartially.
Thus, many unclear questions for now would be answered - whether the figures for a record harvest in Russia also contain Ukrainian quantities, whether the raw materials that our processors import from Romania are not actually Ukrainian, whether the honey entering the EU from Ukraine is not Chinese, etc. .n.
