Poland's Grupa Azoty SA has released data on its 2023 fertilizer production volumes, showing a steady increase in product output for another month in a row.
The company was established in 1927, during the Second Polish Republic, as one of the most modern factories in Europe at the time. Grupa Azoty is currently the largest chemical company in Poland and a major producer of fertilizers, plastics, chemicals, oxo-alcohols and pigments.
At the end of 2019, the group employed 15,609 employees in 50 companies located both in Poland and abroad. In 2022, Grupa Azoty reported revenues of over PLN 24 billion ($5.5 billion). By 2023, the company is the second largest producer of fertilizers in the European Union. The company offers its products in over 100 countries around the world. Grupa Azoty is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) and is a component of the WIG30 stock index.
According to published estimates, in October Grupa Azoty Group companies produced 245,000 t of nitrogen fertilizers (up from 227,000 t in September), 71,000 t of compound fertilizers (compared to 64,000 t in September) and 26,000 t of special fertilizers (an increase compared to 15,000 t in September).
An increase on a monthly basis was also demonstrated in the urea production segment, with production at 110,000 tonnes in October, against 94,000 tonnes in September.
"In October, we marked the fourth consecutive month of production growth in the AGRO segment. The production data are indicative of the positive trend, reflecting the gradual stabilization of the fertilizer market and the return of demand to levels reminiscent of previous seasons, before the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine in 2022," says Tomas Henk, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty SA
